Product Review: Bite Toothpaste Bits

What my dentist and my 9-year-old have to say about this eco-friendly toothpaste option.

Finally, a toothpaste my cavity-prone son likes. Before we tried these little tooth-savers, my son had multiple trouble spots on his teeth, and had to have a baby root canal on one of his baby teeth. He was fine but I knew I needed to make a change from our regular toothpaste. Being the researcher that I am, I looked into safe, effective, eco-friendly toothpaste options and came across Bite Toothpaste Bits.

They looked interesting and I loved the eco-friendly packaging (glass bottles that you keep and refill with monthly replacements that come in brown paper packaging). The company also checked several boxes for me that, as a conscious consumer, are important to me:

  • Cruelty-free and vegan - ☑️

  • Woman-owned business - ☑️

  • Certified B Corporation - ☑️

  • Eco-friendly - ☑️

  • No harsh chemicals - ☑️

However, I had never heard of one of the ingredients in the bits, Nano-hydroxyapatite (nano-HA). I was due for a dental cleaning, so while I was there, I asked my dentist about this ingredient. Their website claims that nano-HA helps fight tooth sensitivity, and remineralizes enamel, but would my dentist back this up? The answer is a resounding YES. He told me that they use nano-HA on patients who undergo implant surgery, need periodontic care, or experience hypersensitivity in their teeth. "Perfect!" I thought. But would they pass the kid test?

I bought a bottle of Bite Toothpaste Bits thinking I would have to work hard to convince my picky 9-year-old to give them a try and start using them to strengthen his teeth. To my surprise, he LOVED them! Maybe it's because they resemble candy, but he enjoys crunching the bites between his teeth before he starts brushing. He likes the minty flavor because it's "not too minty" and he actually brushes for the full dentist-recommended 2 minutes of brushing time.

This made his mama and his pediatric dentist quite happy.

I've noticed a difference in my own tooth sensitivity as well. Not only do we have stronger, healthier teeth, but we're not chucking used plastic toothpaste tubes into the environment anymore, which makes me feel better about the world my children are inheriting. Now if we could just find a soap that makes my kids run to the shower at night without arguing and stalling...

Overall, Bite Toothpaste Bits are a win for us. Highly recommend!
